Sea Scouts Hike to Victory
29.06.2009
Five young people from Solihull been crowned the champions of the Malvern Challenge.
Last weekend, the five Sea Scouts took part in a competitive hike through Gloucestershire and were tested in eight challenges along the way, including a first aid scenario, abseiling, target shooting and an assault course. More than 3,000 Scouts from around the UK took part, and Knowle Sea Scout Group beat the 435 other teams to claim first place.
Speaking after the weekend, Watch Leader Will Salloway, aged 14, said "It was a real surprise that we got the highest score overall, but fantastic to bring home the trophy. We knew we'd done well in some of the challenges, and being Sea Scouts, it's always nice to beat the Scouts at their own activities!"
