National Swimming Success

04.02.2007

Solihull's Sea Scouts brought home some swimming silverware last weekend after competing in the Royal Navy Swimming Championships at HMS Raleigh in Cornwall. Twelve young people from 4th Knowle Sea Scout Group competed against over three hundred Sea Scouts from around the UK. Sea Scout Will Salloway won silver in the under 12 backstroke, whilst bronze in the under 14 medley relay was taken by Sea Scouts Matt Davis, Matt Jones, Jamie Morgan.

The weekend was action packed with a range of other activities including training in high speed powerboats normally used by the Royal Navy to intercept drug runners around the world. Sixteen year old Watch Leader Ant Krstic said, "this is the third time we've attended the gala, and each year we improve, but the competition is still very fierce! The squad did really well and we had a great weekend; we'll soon be in training for next year".
